Important Dates

Pre-register, register, or update voter information. A valid Michigan driver’s license or ID is required. Resident’s without a valid ID or license must visit their county clerk’s office and provide proof of residency to be registered.
Voters may only register to vote online if the election is at least 15 days from the current date. If the election is within the next 14 days, they must register by visiting the county clerk’s office. The cut-off to register online for this year’s general election is Monday, October 21, 2024.

Michigan residents may request an absentee ballot starting 40 days prior to the coming election. You can request starting September 26, 2024.

Saturday, March 22, 2025 Deadline for county clerks to deliver absent voter ballots for the May election to local clerks
Thursday, March 27, 2025 Absent voter ballots must be available for issuance to voters
Thursday, March 27, 2025 Beginning of period secure drop boxes must be accessible 24 hours each day (until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day).
Monday, April 7, 2025 Beginning of optional early voting period.
Monday, April 21, 2025 Deadline to register by mail or online and be eligible to vote for the May election.
Tuesday, April 22, 2025 In-person registration with local clerk with proof of residency allowed between this date and the day before Election Day.
Sunday, May 4, 2025 Last day of early voting period (optional in local elections).
Tuesday, May 6, 2025 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM Election Day
